CBSE released Study Materials for Open Book Exam under Open Text Based Assessment OTBA for Class IX and XI

In an extraordinary move to improve the quality of learning in India from the existing culture where many students are forced to learn by mugging, memorization and at times even cheating during examinations, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to introduce ‘Open Book Examination’ under its new Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) system for classes 9 and 11 starting from March 2014.
To know more about “ What is Open Book Examination System of CBSE” please see article: CBSE tostart Open Book Exam System with OTBA for Class 9 and 11 from 2014
The Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) will be a part of Summative Assessment (SA) II of Class IX and Annual Examination of Class XI to be held in March, 2014 and will comprise questions of total 10 marks in each specified subject. These questions will be asked from the Open Text or Study Materials taken strictly from CBSE’s syllabi which have been already released by CBSE.
Instead of bringing all subjects under OTBA system, CBSE has restricted the number of subjects and topics to just a few for 2014 as given below (also given Download link) :
